• Hatsune Miku’s Project Diva

While in Tokyo for job training, I stumbeled across the test location for Project Diva. Project Diva is the game based on Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, Japan’s latest Craze. Video of Miku-chan singing her heart out after the jump.

While hitting up the game centers in Akihabara Sunday morning I stumbeled upon the test location for Project Diva at the Sega World. I knew something was up when the stairs leading to the fighters were completely blocked. After I waded my way through the press I spotted the machine complete with Sega Eomployee wrangeling the crowd.

I worked over to the podium for signups and inquired as to how many people were waiting to play… 195. The sega guy could see I was pretty shocked and admited that even if I waited for my turn all day, I probably wouldn’t get to play before they closed. Considering that a sign, I went upstairs instead to flex my muscle at some street fighter. (Yes I know the real competition is in Shibuya, but I like winning sometimes you know?)

They’re usually pretty strict about filming anf photography at these test locations so instead of wasting my time trying to get some footage, I let somebody else do the work and lifted the video off youtube. Honestly, it looks like a direct port of the psp version. Complete with giant psp buttons built into the machine. The screen is touch though. Ooh, touch. (Pretty standard on most non fighting games in Japan these days).
