The newst HAWP video is out and it touches on the issue of speaking with your wallet. Is it OK to purchase a product that profits somebody who has ideals contrary to your own? Video link and more about Shadow Complex / Orson Scott Card after the jump
Destrucoid reports:
When reached for comment, Burch was typically full of sh*t. “I didn’t mean to buy it,” he told Destructoid, “Ash just handed me the controller, I don’t hate gay people,” the gay-hating game critic said.
After delivering said comment, Burch punched every gay person in the face and high-fived Glenn Beck.

I laughed until I wheezed (I have a cold), but the video raises an interesting point. Is it OK to give money to those whom we are idealogically opposed? What if we offset our contribution to their cause with a contribution to an opposing cause? I’m not really sure. I had already purchased all of Orson Scott Card’s books before I found about his political stances. He is an incredibly intelligent writer, however I think he is rather misguided when it comes to some issues. So this time around, I don’t think Mr. Card will be getting my money.
In the past I haven’t voted much with my wallet but in the future I think I will be. When Rockstar Energy Drink came out here in Japan I was pumped. It works way better than redbull. Unfortunately, some say its also like purchasing hate in a can. I’ve since stopped buying it.
